B.1.A March 24th, online session 4

Hi there,
First of all I'd like to post a video where I explain the different things I'm doing for you these days and that you're meant to do at home. Hope this makes everything easier. Although I took the B.2.1. post and padlet, it's because there were more things...but everything applies for you:) it's a common video for all my students.
Next day, I'll post a video on how to publish your "vocaroo" onto the padlet:) and how to use Skype with your classmates

OUR CLASS TODAY:
First of all, let's correct the handout 6A (the passive):
Ex a: 2. are stolen, 3.disappear, 4.is sent, 5.is bitten, 6.fights, 7. falls, 8. were made, 9. have been bought.
Ex. b. 2. will be accepted, 3. be washed, 4. was being followed, 5. has (the thief) been caught, 6. Have (you ever) been told, 7. has been robbed, 8. had already been made, 9. is being painted, 10. wasn't offered, 11. be returned, 12. had been stolen.

Now, let's move on to the first activity today:
to revise your cinema vocabulary: click on this link to learn or revise some words. click on the flashcards.

Then, you can turn to the reading and page 98-99 and here is the key to check your answers.
After that, move on to the listening 2a.
In that listening there are some modal verbs. Here those are not obligation or probability modal verbs. Those are "modals of deduction". Turn to page 215 to read the grammar. In this link, you may find some more useful information.

Later on, go ex. d, and choose 2 pictures (1 and 2) and your classmate (picture 3 and 4). Make the predictions. Then, phone each other and go to page 179. Read about the ones the other person focused on and check his/her predictions. When you're on the phone, you can finish the conversation by considering the questions in ex. d) page 99.

And to finish off the class, let's celebrate the World Poetry Day (March 21st) with some pronunciation and listening: read this poem and fill in the gaps with the rhyming words: Sue's shoes then, play the audio version and check your answers. On Thursday I'll give you the written key (just in case:). You can then say the poem pausing after each line. Pay attention to the rhythm and pronunciation.

HOMEWORK
- And...optional: You can write a short poem and send it to me by email (that's optional!) I'll put them on the padlet, if you wish.
- Grammar page 215 both exercises
- Some tips to study at home. You can watch this video and later on comment on the blog your own ideas. What is useful for you?

  1. I particularly like study in silence and reading it aloud, it's the only way for me to memorize something. And other great idea is to write down every new words and try to explain it in English.
